Discover the fascinating history of the American Chestnut. SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry school will present the historical and ecological importance of the American chestnut and their efforts to restore it. 

SUNY ESF is spearheading an effort to restore the American Chestnut. The Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens will collaborate in this effort through plantings of wild and transgenic Chestnut trees on-site.  Planting of wild chestnuts began in the Fall of 2022 and will continue into Spring 2023.  Transgenic chestnuts will follow in Fall 2023 and Spring 2024.  Other educational offerings will be offered in conjunction with plantings and growth cycles of the Chestnut trees.
